This captivating specimen of fluorescent opalized wood—also known as Opalwood—originates from the desert terrain of Nevada and carries the fossilized memory of an ancient tree. While its ivory striations and organic texture make it beautiful in daylight, under 310nm midwave ultraviolet light (UV-B) it transforms: glowing in brilliant bands of neon green and electric blue, as though the spirit of the tree still lingers in light.
This is not ordinary petrified wood. It’s opalized—meaning the original wood was replaced by opaline silica over millions of years, resulting in a fossil with shimmering visual qualities and striking fluorescence. These effects are caused by trace elements, likely uranium or lead, commonly found in high-quality UV-reactive desert specimens.
Details:
• Material: Opalized Wood (Opalwood)
• Origin: Nevada, USA
• UV Fluorescence: Bright green and blue under 310nm midwave UV light (UV-B)
• Dimensions: 7” × 5.5” × 1”
• Weight: 1 lb 5 oz

Whether you’re a UV mineral collector, fossil enthusiast, or natural art lover, this piece offers a rare combination of ancient history and glowing mystique.
Important Note:
Fluorescence shown in photos was produced using a 310nm UV-B midwave light. If viewed under other UV wavelengths, the glow may differ or not appear. We are not responsible if the buyer does not use a proper UV-B light source.
